Starting today, Malaysians are now allowed to organise and attend social events and we can’t wait to host with you at our Event Space KL!
On 24 June 2020, Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced that Social events, including wedding receptions, engagement parties, reunion gatherings and religious events, can be held from July 1 onward.
As we slowly take steps towards normalcy, as event organizers, we do have to keep in mind that these social functions have to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) put in place by the authorities, including limiting the maximum number of participants at 250, social distancing and registration of guests must be followed by those planning for social gatherings.
With this, here are our newly updated safety and hygienic standards that are being practiced at our Event Space with recommended guidelines in place. Here are our key efforts to ensure your peace of mind while hosting your event with us.
All visitors are required to undergo a temperature screening procedure and register their contact details such as name and contact number at the Concierge before entering the event venue. These details will also be recorded through the MySejahtera Check-in app or QR code.
This is to trace individuals who have been to our event spaces if an outbreak occurs.
To ensure the safety of all guests, any participants revealing symptoms of COVID-19 such as high body temperature, cough or flu or related symptoms will be denied access to our event spaces.
The current SOP has advised that all event spaces adhere to a 1 metre social social distancing throughout the entire event.
At Colony’s Event Space KL, we have reduced the capacity of our meeting rooms and event spaces according to the compulsory guidelines. Our spaces have been marked with standees and tapes on our floors and work desks to ensure that all visitors or attendees remain at least 1 metre apart at all times.
During the course of an event, the entry and exit points to a training facility should be limited. Ideally, there should be 1 dedicated entry and 1 dedicated exit point.
At our event spaces, we will allocate a dedicated entry and exit point exclusively for your event. The event hall will be limited to 1 dedicated entry and 1 dedicated exit point.
This will lower the physical cohesion of the attendees and allow all visitors to undergo the registration process at our Concierge before entering the venue, ensuring that all of their details have been recorded.
Moving on to the event space layout arrangements, our pillarless event spaces are perfect to adjust any seating arrangements that complies to the recommended social distancing guideline.
With the assistance of our event specialists, we will take care of all the details of your event, including setting up the best layout and traffic flow that matches both your event requirements and the recommended guidelines. Below are some examples of the recommended seating arrangements:
Cocktail and standing arrangements are also available at our spaces.
People sharing utensils and congregating around food service areas can pose a risk. Thus, it is advisable to serve pre-packed meals during your events or ensure that a dedicated server is available if you choose to have your meals served in a buffet style.
When you host an event with us, you can choose from either pre-packed foods or opt for a buffet style menu with a dedicated server at your beck and call! We also have a panel of curated caterer partners for you to choose from that provide these services for your event.
With the new event SOPs in place, events are now only allowed to be held within a time frame of 3 to 5 hours. Not to worry, hosting an event with such short hours is more than enough to create a meaningful experience for your attendees if you do it right! .

It is highly advisable for all participants to wear a face mask when attending events. Attendees who show any symptoms related to COVID-19 are advised to stay at home or seek medical treatment immediately.
It is compulsory for hand-sanitizers to be readily available at the entrance and common areas during your event, which will be provided by Colony.
Your guests will be required to sanitize their hands upon entering our spaces. We’ve also installed motion-activated sanitizer dispensers around our spaces, especially in high traffic areas such as the concierge, common lounges and pantry area.
These hand sanitizers will reduce minimal contact whenever in use.
